Using WLAN with BEG IoT-Gateway

The WLAN functionality of the BEG IoT-Gateway allows you to connect to a wireless network for internet access.

You can choose between WLAN and LTE as your internet connection technology.

If there is no internet connectivity available via WLAN, the system will automatically switch to LTE to keep you online.

You can easily see which connection is currently enabled by looking at the indicator next to LTE or WLAN.

Connectivity configuration

Connecting to WLAN

Before you begin, make sure your system is set up correctly. You can find instructions for the quick setup here. To use the WLAN feature, follow these steps:

  • Open a browser on your PC connected to the IoT gateway and go to http://<ip_address_of_gateway>:8090/connectivity.

  • On the connectivity page, you will see an option to add new WLAN credentials. Enter the SSID (name of your WLAN) and the password, then click "Save & Connect". This will save the credentials on the gateway and enable WLAN, attempting to connect to your network.

  • On the right side of the page, you can see all the saved SSIDs. You can also click the "Refresh Status" button to get an updated status at any time.

  • To connect to a saved WLAN, click the "Enable WLAN" button. The system will try to connect to one of the saved WLANs in range.

  • If you no longer need a saved SSID, you can delete it by clicking the delete button (🗑️) in the saved SSID list.

  • You can configure the duration for which the system will attempt to reach the internet using WLAN before falling back to LTE by setting the WLAN Connection Timeout value between 15 seconds and 604800 seconds (7 days).

Please note that the state of the last established connection method (LTE or WLAN) is preserved even after a reboot of the IoT gateway.

Connecting to LTE

If you prefer to use LTE as your internet connection method, simply click on the "Enable LTE" button.
